Buying advice: office chairs
- 1Adjustable lumbar (height and depth) beats fixed 'ergonomic curves', backs differ too much for one shape.
- 2You want 2–3 fingers of clearance behind your knees. Seat-depth adjustment is what makes one chair fit 5'2" and 6'2" sitters.
- 34D armrests (height — width, depth, angle) keep shoulders neutral at the keyboard. Fixed arms are a common regret.
- 4A synchro-tilt that reclines the back faster than the seat feels natural; multiple lock positions let you find your working lean.
- 5Mesh breathes and suits warm rooms; upholstered foam feels plusher initially but sleeps warmer. Both need dense, quality foam underneath.
